The Select Medical Orthopedic Residency/Fellowship Programs
The Select Medical Orthopedic Residency Program
This multi-site program brings the clinical instructors to you and is accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education. Select Medical’s board certified specialists work with each resident in their outpatient center, minimizing travel and providing a better learning experience.
Tuition is waived for full-time clinicians who commit to two years of employment with Select Physical Therapy’s Outpatient Division family of brands.
Residencies are available in Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

The Select Medical Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy
Accredited by ABPTRFE in 2020, this 18-month program is also designed to meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council on Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Education (ACOMPTE) allowing graduates to obtain Fellowship status with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. Since its inception, the program graduation rate is 100%, and 100% of graduates would recommend the program to a peer seeking Fellowship training in manual therapy. Program graduates also have the opportunity to support their peers and apply to become faculty for both our Fellowship and Residency Programs, something that 100% of graduates have gone on to do.
Similar to our Orthopedic Residency Program, tuition is waived for full-time clinicians who commit to two years of employment with Select Medical’s Outpatient Division family of brands, and uses a model in which the mentor travels to the fellow in training.

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency
A partnership of Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation and Texas Woman’s University (Dallas, TX). Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation’s residency in Neurologic Physical Therapy is a joint program with Texas Woman’s University. This accredited residency promotes excellent care in the lifespan of people who have suffered a neurologic injury. This intensive, 12-month program focuses on advanced clinical decision making and prepares the residents to provide the highest level of physical therapy for patients with neurologic injuries. The program is coordinated between several different Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation facilities and encompasses the continuum of care.

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation Oncology Physical Therapy Residency
A partnership of Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX). The Oncology Physical Therapy Residency Program provides residents with an intensive study in the physical therapy specialty of oncology. Upon completion, residents will be prepared to earn their board certification in oncology. The program includes direct patient care, mentoring time, didactic education, projects and presentations. The residents will also earn their CLT through a lymphedema training school, such as Norton or Klose.

SSM Heath Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency
A partnership of Saint Louis University and SSM Health Physical Therapy (St. Louis, MO). SLU-SSM Health Physical Therapy residency education provides numerous opportunities for the licensed physical therapist to develop as an advanced clinician and an educator, produce and disseminate a scholarly product and grow as a provider to the area's underserved populations.
Programs advance the specialty knowledge, skills and attributes of licensed physical therapists as described by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education's Description of Residency Practice. They include classroom learning and psychomotor instruction at Saint Louis University and SSM Health Physical Therapy in face-to-face, online and small group formats.
External applicants and current employees of SSM Health Physical Therapy are accepted. Our program highlights include:- Direct 1:1 clinical mentoring
- Compensation (including benefits) for non-mentored hours of patient care
- Participation as a lab instructor in SLU's entry-level physical therapy program
- Small group classroom and manual skills instruction, facilitated discussion and journal club
- Independent mentorship in specialty topics within the field of orthopedics
- Opportunities for clinic rounding, surgery observation and grand rounds with physicians

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation Sports Residency Program
Through Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, TX. Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation’s Sports Physical Therapy residency is a 12-month, intensive study with a focus on providing treatment to patients with sports-related injuries. This accredited residency will prepare therapists to sit and pass the sports specialty exam administered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. The program includes direct patient care, venue coverage, mentoring time, didactic education, projects and presentations.

NovaCare Rehabilitation Philadelphia Sports Physical Therapy Residency
This 12-month ABPTRFE accredited sports residency program includes a combination of mentored and independent clinical hours in the Temple University Olympic Sports and Football training rooms as well as a NovaCare Rehabilitation outpatient center in Philadelphia, PA. This experience also includes a combination of sports- and orthopedic-specific didactic coursework and in-person labs. Using NovaCare Rehabilitation’s relationships with local sports teams and treating physicians, the resident will also complete interdisciplinary shadowing and more than 200 on-field hours. Since its inception, the program has a 100% completion rate and a 100% board exam pass rate. For the duration of this program, as long as the resident remains in good standing within the program, the resident will be considered a full-time employee of NovaCare and eligible for full-time benefits.

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation Women's Health Residency
A partnership of Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (Dallas, TX) and Texas Woman’s University. Our Women’s Health Physical Therapy program is a joint residency through the Texas Woman’s University Dallas Campus. This program provides residents with a minimum of 12 - 14 month intensive study in the physical therapy specialty of women’s health. Upon completion, residents will be prepared to earn their board certification in women’s health physical therapy. Rotations emphasize different specialty areas including: oncology, pelvic health, pregnancy/post-partum, lymphedema and aquatics. The program includes direct patient care, mentoring time, didactic education, projects and presentations. The Residents will also earn their CLT through the Norton School of Lymphedema.
