About RUSH Specialty Hospital - Inpatient Rehabilitation

RUSH Specialty Hospital, a partnership between Select Medical and Rush University System for Health (RUSH), puts patients first. Our team provides top-quality inpatient rehabilitation care and innovative treatment plans tailored to patients. Those patients are recovering from a range of conditions, including strokes, spinal cord, brain and orthopedic injuries, as well as neurological disease and other medically complex conditions.

The 56-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation unit sits within RUSH Specialty Hospital on the campus of the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. We offer a continuum of care that ensures safe, high-quality rehabilitation services. The goal of the rehabilitation program is to help patients walk, talk, think and eat again. Our care teams help patients become as independent as possible, allowing them to return to their daily lives.

Leonard's story*
One fall day in 2016, a motorcycle accident changed Leo’s life forever. He was hit by a truck and critically injured. Rushed to the hospital by ambulance, Leo underwent surgery. A complete T-7 spinal cord injury left him paralyzed from the upper abdomen down. At age 30, Leo was now living with paraplegia.
