Occupational Therapist - Certified Hand Therapist

Dallas, TX  (Downtown)

Select Medical complies with state and federal wage and hour laws. Compensation depends upon candidate’s years of experience and internal equity.

OT-CHT Minimum Salary: $73,840.00 - $80,080.00     

 

As a Full Time Therapist at one of our Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, you will work with a team of clinicians. Together we will help our patients achieve outlined goals and milestones on their individual patient care plan. 

  • Initial and ongoing systematic patient assessment
  • Patient Case Load Average: 8-10 patients a day
  • Timely and accurate documentation using Therapy Source
  • Interpreting assessment/diagnostic data including medical notes and surgery reports
  • Ensuring medical orders are transcribed and processed accurately
  • Promoting continuous quality improvement
  • Instructing and counseling patients/families as needed

Responsibilities

BSW Rehab in the Tom Landry Center at Baylor University Medical Center is seeking an experienced CHT or OT on the CHT track to join our dynamic and growing team of 17 PTs and 2 OTs. Candidate will have the exciting opportunity to work directly with hand surgeons within a physician group on campus and will have immediate access to collaboration and mentorship from our experienced CHT on staff. Patient populations primarily consist of post-operative and multi-trauma diagnoses as well as general orthopedics and overuse injuries. Ideal candidate will be passionate about serving these populations and proficient in splinting techniques and manual interventions. Ideal candidate will also be a self-starter and a driven team member who is eager and comfortable collaborating with colleagues and referral sources for a successful continuum of patient care. Clinic hours vary from 8A-6P Monday-Thursday and 7A-5P on Fridays.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of those educational requirements as mandated for state licensure or eligibility for a license in Occupational Therapy
  • Current State licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of practice
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week with occasional late or early shifts to accommodate patients

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift patients using appropriate biomechanical techniques frequently throughout the course of a workday/shift. Must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds dead weight alone
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a workday/shift
  • Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to evaluate, diagnose and monitor patient needs and to maintain accurate records, recognize people and provide directions
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions
  • Ability to push wheeled equipment through the facility and in the community
  • Possess fine motor skills for legible and accurate reporting, charting, scheduling, daily correspondence, and presentations, either manually or through use of electronic equipment
  • Possess fine motor skills for effective and efficient handling of diagnostic or therapeutic equipment
