Recreational Therapist - Inpatient/Day Neuro

Full Time - Tues-Sat

Looking for a Full Time Recreational Therapist to provide patient engagement opportunities to explore crafts, hobbies, and group activities as well as socialization and stress reduction. This full-time position includes an alternate shift of Tuesday to Saturday and will support both the Inpatient Rehab Hospital as well the Day Neuro Program. The Day Neuro program serves adults with Brain Injuries and post Stroke as they recover and work on necessary skills to return to work, school or community activities. Looking for an energetic, motivated and positive Recreational Therapist who wants to part of our rehab team.

Our hospital is located in Lakeway Texas in the scenic hill country on the southern shores of Lake Travis. Lakeway is a resort community about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. The city offers an outdoor lifestyle with a 65-mile-long lake, golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a private airport, 100 acres of parkland hiking and biking trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. 

Select Medical complies with state and federal wage and hour laws. Compensation depends upon candidate’s years of experience and internal equity. Starting Salary: $47,507.20.

Responsibilities

Plans and implements appropriate recreation activities for patients in accordance with guidelines set by the organization, hospital and the profession. Responsible for provision of therapeutic recreation intervention for an assigned caseload. Ensures all patients are oriented to recreation therapy and provides hospital wide leisure, social and divergent programs. Serves as an educator to patients on community resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Baccalaureate Degree in Therapeutic Recreation required.
  2. Current national certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and BLS required.
  3. Experience with Adult Brain Injured/Stroke population preferred.
  4. Should have certified experience in a medical setting.
