Counselor
Day Neuro
Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation has an opening for a licensed professional counselor or master clinical social worker to provide counseling and education to patients in an out patient neuro day program setting. These programs focus on patients that have experienced traumatic injuries to the brain (TBI-traumatic brain injury) or spine (SCI- Spinal Cord Injury) or other acquired neurologic injuries including Strokes, brain tumors and aneurysm. The ideal candidate for this position will have a working knowledge of these medical conditions, experience in rehabilitation and experience working with patients with PTSD, chemical dependency, and anxiety. Our counselor works in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team including, PT, OT, SLP, TR, neuropsychology and physicians. The counselor will work with patients in groups and individual sessions as well as co-treatments as needed.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
- LCSW/LPC License
- Performing individual, group and family counseling
- Supporting Adult patients
- Assisting patients with physical and cognitive deficits
- Treating Adult acquired brain injuries
- Rehabitation Counseling
Responsibilities
Licensed Professional Counselor demonstrates the basic knowledge of Neuro diagnoses to be treated in the Day Neuro Program. Therapist plans and performs treatment and intervention techniques which are consistent with patient needs. This includes individual, family and couples, and group intervention as it relates to adjustment to disability, behavioral management and cognitive deficits. Treats patients at appropriate intensity. Utilizes age and developmental appropriate activities and techniques based on the established BSWIR age categories. Therapist is also able to modify and advance therapy based on patient response.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience
- Master’s degree appropriate to position.
- Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Certified BLS completion required; for new hires, see CPR Requirement Guidelines for New Hires.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Abilities to learn and teach psychological measures, observe confidentiality and standardization, and demonstrate accuracy, reliability and organizational skill.
