Speech Language Pathologist-Outpatient

Dallas, TX (Sammons Cancer Ctr) /  Full Time

Responsibilities

We are seeking a full-time speech pathologist experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of voice and upper airway disorders, including functional, organic, and neurological voice disorders as well as those secondary to head/neck cancer in an outpatient interdisciplinary department. This position is unique in that it is housed in the Baylor Scott & White Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center but will be responsible for expanding the voice program throughout the community and will be eligible for a float bonus. BSWIR Outpatient has a multi-disciplinary team model working closely with Baylor laryngologists as well as a network of community ENTs in the vast Dallas-Ft. Worth area. We care for patients with a variety of diagnoses including: vocal lesions, laryngeal cancers, PVFM/VCD, tremor, MTD, SD, vocal fold atrophy, and vocal fold paralysis or paresis. Clinical caseload may also include treatment of dysphagia (secondary cause of MTD, reflux, cancer, neurological changes, or deconditioning). This position allows for continued leadership opportunities within the BSWIR voice community, which prides itself in its strong team of SLPs who practice in a variety of specialty areas. We are seeking someone who can: • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes laryngologists, community ENT's, head/neck surgeons, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, oncologists and speech-language pathologists. • Interpret endoscopy and videostroboscopy reports paired with clinical assessment to design a plan of care. • Perform acoustic voice analysis, motor-speech examination, and perceptual voice evaluation and rehabilitation techniques. • Attend and participate in grand rounds with laryngologist and voice team. • Participate in and present in journal club and CEU's related to voice and dysphagia. • Market and promote voice services to the community. • Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and customer service skills. • Supervise and mentor graduate students and clinicians in the area of voice disorders. Qualifications • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required • CCC-SLP certification from the ASHA, TX-SLP certification from the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association required • Outpatient experience with voice disorders required. • Proficiency in FEES and Videostroboscopy preferred. The Sammons Cancer Center is located on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center.

Qualifications

Current and valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist and Certificate of Clinical Competence required.
