Patient Service Specialist (PSS)

Outpatient Rehab 

Full Time 

Looking for a customer service oriented person to handle front office activities in a fast paced environment.


Insurance Verification Verifier Job Duties Employees in this position will: 1. Obtain patient information sent via fax or email from physician office (RX, Insurance info, Pre-Cert form/Intake Face Sheet). 2. Contact patient via Home, Cell, or Work phone number. If no response from patient after 3 messages, will forward to appropriate OP facility for continued attempts. 3. Obtain patient, billing and insurance information in order to maintain current and accurate information in patient files, documentation system (TherapySource), and billing system (RT). Also, prepare forms or reports and conduct billing or collection activities. 4. Schedule patient to the Baylor Rehab-Outpatient facility of their choice. 5. Email all patient info to correct facility along with saving to the S drive in the appropriate facility folder 6. Email or fax appointment date and time or non-compliance back to referring physician office. 7. Document all patients into Daily Log. 8. Provide any information (i.e. Progress Notes, Plan of Care) to referring physician office if requested, and notify treating facility via email. 9. Request Discharge Summary via email. 10. Perform general clerical functions as necessary utilizing a working knowledge of all front office duties. 11. Ensure timely reporting of key center statistics to Administrative Service Manager for sales, revenues, cash and patient flow. 12. Foster and support a workplace culture that emphasizes the importance of Customer Service. 13. Work with patients, doctors, payors, CBO, Select Medical internal departments, etc. to resolve issues or problems. 14. In the event the needs of the community or the organization change, have the ability to be flexible with the work schedule. 15. Perform other duties as requested


Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Abilities (including licensure, certification and other job-related credentials) 1. High School Diploma or equivalent required 2. Courses in bookkeeping and accounting OR work experience in a healthcare or related setting. 3. One to two years medical billing and administrative experience preferred. 4. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and relate ideas effectively with staff members, supportive personnel, management staff, third party payers, patients, and physicians. 5. Must have strong skills in computer equipment and software, detailed documentation, problem-solving and excellent customer service.
