Brain Injury Researcher
Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation’s Research program is hiring a brain injury research scientist. The successful candidate will join a team of rehabilitation researchers and clinicians in supporting the growing brain injury research program at BSWIR, which is part of the North Texas Traumatic Brain Injury Model System, one of only16 NIDILRR-funded TBI model systems in the country. The scientist will also conduct their own line of innovative brain injury research and be actively engaged in writing grants, presenting findings to national audiences and publishing their work in top peer-reviewed journals. Through these and other initiatives, the scientist will help increase BSWIR’s position as a national leader in rehabilitation research.
Responsibilities
The Research Scientist will conduct independent and collaborative research projects that are aligned with the strategic mission of the Research Office and Hospital to advance rehabilitation science. Their role will include participating in strategic planning efforts and reporting to appropriate entities; establish collaborative relationships within and across Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation clinicians and researchers plus external colleagues; be involved in national-level professional organizations; and establish develop and maintain relationships with funding sources.
Job-Specific Duties
Conducting ongoing brain injury-related research activities, plus activities to support ongoing brain injury research which will include writing grants, publishing findings, presenting at national conferences, and collaborating with local and national-level colleagues.
Qualifications
Required: PhD in rehabilitation or biomedical sciences (e.g., neuroscience, neuropsychology, physiology, physical therapy), or M.D. or D.O. with Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or other rehabilitation-related specialty.
Required: Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting research (post-doc preferred), including having been awarded external grant funding, publishing, and presenting to national audiences.
Required: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
