The Director of Rehabilitation Research (the Director) position exists to direct, administer, and promote the research and research activities of Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation. With a successful history of grant writing, conducting innovative research, and maintaining a supportive culture for research, the Director will oversee the strategic direction of the research program and ensure scientific efforts support enhanced patient and family outcomes.
The Rehabilitation Research program at Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation has a strong environment that supports creative and scientific endeavors. For example, current researchers have been awarded several multi-year grants and contracts in the past 1-2 years from agencies including the National Institute for Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research; Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute; Centers for Disease Control; and Neilsen Foundation.
The Director will involve leadership of the brain injury and spinal cord injury research scientists, coordinators, and clinicians to continue the hospital's position as a national leader in research and clinical care. The Director will oversee an annual budget of over $2 million and staff of 18+ and will lead and participate in future grant writing efforts. The Director will collaborate closely with hospital administrators and the Baylor Scott and White Foundation to budget appropriately.
To be qualified:
- PhD in basic biomedical and related sciences (e.g., physiology, neuroscience, neuropsychology, physical therapy, or therapy disciplines), or MD or DO with Board Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or other specialty germane to rehabilitation.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in directing successful grant-funding activities, including demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills; publication track record.
- Clinical research experience should be focused on traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and stroke.
